The Joker series first saw that light of day when Mystery Joker was released in 2018. After that we have seen some great additions to the family including Sticky Joker, Chronos Joker and Ice Joker. But by far the most popular slot of the series has been Fire Joker and during the past few years there has been thousands of free spins given to that particular game.

But all slots need the occasional update and we are thrilled to see that Play’n GO has put Fire Joker and Ice Joker together. The game has stayed to to the original and retro fruit machine style but with an added twist. There are countless special features to explore and six-figure amounts to be won. So without further ado, let’s dive in.

Fire Joker Freeze: How the Game Works?

First we are going to check out the stats and numbers. The game works in a familiar 3x3 grid and there are always 9 symbols appearing on the reels after each spin. There are five fixed paylines and wins are paid from left to right.

The minimum bet is €0,05 (definitely smaller than most games) and the maximum bet is 100€. So Fire Joker is a good fit to those gamers who like to play with smaller bets - but also highrollers who like to spin with more risk.

The game has eight different symbols. The low paying ones are X, cherries, lemons, grapes and plums that pay up to 1,4x your stake. Mid-level symbols on the other hand are BAR, Stars and 7s that give up to 4x winnings. Of course the most valuable symbols are the Ice Joker and Fire Joker - and when you land three of them, you get a reward worth 10x your stake. These symbols also act as wilds.

Fire Joker Freeze RTP (96,18%)

Fire Joker Freeze comes with a RTP of 96,18% which is relatively okey. It is not the highest we’ve seen from the game provider but still good enough. In Fire Joker the RTP is 96% and in Ice Joker 96,23% so this fits nicely in the middle.

Fire Joker Freeze is a medium volatility game. And as players know, volatility measures the risk of the game which in this case falls in the middle. Again, this is nothing new since both Ice Joker and Fire Joker are also medium volatility games.

Special Features

Now it’s time to get into the good stuff. Fire Joker Freeze has taken interesting elements from the original games but also come up with exciting new features. Firstly, there are two different wild symbols: Ice Joker and Fire Joker that substitute for all other symbols.

There are also two different re-spin features. The first one is a re-spin of ice that actives when a Ice Joker wild appears on a a non winning round. It grows to fill out the entire reel and a respin is being made with higher odds to bigger wins. Re-spin of fire on the other hand appears when two stacks of the same symbol appear on a non-winning round (reels 1 and 3). The two stacked reels stay in place while the mid reel spins again - giving you another change to win.

Wheel of Fire and Ice

The third feature is called Wheel of Fire and Ice. It triggers when three stacks of the same symbol fill the screen. This can happen in the base game or during the re-spin of ice or re-spin of fire. The wheel has four different levels and each come with multipliers. The level that you start with is determined by the way you trigged it in the first place:

• If you trigger the wheel with basic symbols, you start at the innermost circle of the weel.
• When there is at least one stack of Ice Joker symbols, you start in the second wheel.
• If you have collected two stacks of Ice Joker symbols, the game starts from the third wheel.
• When you start with a full-screen of Ice Joker symbols, you immediately start from the fourth wheel

The multipliers get bigger and bigger based on the level you start with. The innermost wheel has x2, x3 and x4 multipliers. The second wheel comes with 3x, 4x and 5x multipliers while the third one has the following multipliers: 4x, 5x and 6x. The wheel four is the most beneficial one since it comes with x6, x10 and x20 multipliers. There is also a snowflake symbol - if you hit that, you advance to a better wheel. The multiplier is added to the win which resulted in triggering the Wheel of Fire and Ice.

Verdict

We were actually quite pleased with the Fire Joker Freeze. Even though we are not the biggest fans of retro games, this one was quite nice. The game is rather simple but still manages to excite us with the re-spins and the Wheel of Fire and Ice. So when it comes to special features, Fire Joker Freeze is doing quite well.

The maximum win could be a bit higher but 1000x your stake is still quite okay with a 3x3 game with five paylines. The slot resembles Fire Joker quite a bit so we could have liked to see something a bit different - but if you are a fan of that particular game, you will enjoy this one too. The RTP was very predicable since this game is based on two previous slots. But overall this game is very enjoyable!
