Year of Branded Slots: Assassin’s Creed, Squid Game & Spinnin’ Records

It has become clear that the 2025 is definitely the year of branded slots. Countless game providers have published licensing deals with some of the biggest TV and video game series and even record labels. We went through the most thrilling releases!

Branded game is a term used to describe a slot or another game that is based on a previous well-known brand - usually based on popular culture. They can feature anything from rock bands to famous movies or comics to athletes. These games are always especially well designed and represent the best of what game studios have to offer.

So you can imagine our excitement when we noticed that in 2025 video game series Assassin’s Creed, TV series Squid Game and Spinnin’ Records label are all getting their own slots!

Assassin’s Creed Gets a Collection of Story Driven Slots

Games Global has made a deal with Assassin’s Creed to create four different story driven slots based on the iconic Order of Assassins. There is still very little information available on the actual games themselves but we will of course review all the slots as more details arise.

Since the deal was only announced in the beginning of February, it might be months until we see the first finished product. Games Global has multiple different approached that they might take: will they base each slot to a specific video game with familiar characters or will they decide to create something completely new? Are they going to use progressive jackpots to create Assassin’s Creed themed WowPot or Mega Moolah slot? Only time will tell.

Assassin’s Creed is one of the most popular video game series in the world with 13 main installments - and the newest one coming in March 2025. It has sold over 230 million copies and there is no doubt that the rich universe will transform into an amazing slot as well.

Another Slot Dedicated to Squid Game

There is no denying that Squid Game has become one of the biggest global phenomenons of the 21st century. And a series that is based in different children’s games does make for an intriguing premise for a slot as well. And that’s at least what Light & Wonder thought when they published Squid Game - One Day in 2024.

It is clear that the slot became a huge hit because Light & Wonder already have a sequel planned. The slot, called Squid Game Gganbu, is set to release on March 2025.

Whereas the first slot featured the various deadly games seen on the series, the sequel comes with progressive jackpots: mini, minor, major and grand. Squid Game Gganbu is a low volatility game with 243 paylines and 2,500x maximum win.

Spinnin’ Records and Play’n GO Set to Create EMD Slots

But maybe the most interesting collaboration of all happens between Play’n GO and the Dutch record label Spinnin’s Records. In case you are not familiar with the label, they house some of the biggest EDM artists such as Martin Garrix, Hardwell and Calvin Harris.

The deal consists of two different games, with the first one already announced and set to launch in March 2025. Spinnin' Records Into the Beat is a traditional 5x3 slot with medium volatility and 96,2% RTP.
