Voodoo Hex is probably one of the most innovative online slots we’ve reviewed in a while. It’s not everyday when players (and us) are transported to 1921 New Orleans where a priest in a Voodoo Shop is casting spells towards people celebrating Mardi Gras. I mean come on - who comes up with a game like this?

Once you open the game, you will immediately sense the vibe. We are definitely not standing on the main street (instead this seems to be a very spooky alley away from the party) and there is definitely something strange going on. The mystical French quarters is a perfect setting to this game and the atmosphere is just increased with the background music and sound effects.

How it Works?

Voodoo Hex comes with a 3x3 game screen and 5 paylines. There are always nine symbols on the reels and you are looking to score three similar symbols on at least one payline. The wins are paid from the left to the right. In Voodoo Hex the minimum bet while playing is $0,10 and the maximum bet is $50.

The highest paying symbols are the different characters: the masked woman, snake, the scary looking head and the old doll. When three symbols appear on the same payline, you can win up to 5x your bet. The low paying symbols on the other hand include four different tarot cards. In addition to these basic symbols, you will also discover a wild symbol (potion) and scatter (the priest himself).

The maximum win is 9800x your bet size. This means that if you are spinning with the maximum bet, you claim a whopping $490,000.

Special Features

Verdict

We are really impressed with Voodoo Hex. Despite the fact that the game grid is slightly smaller than usual, the slot is still capable of handing out massive wins. Sometimes these 3x3 slots can be a little boring but not this one! There is some much action going during both the base game and the Free Spins Game that no one will get bored while playing this slot.

Our absolutely favorite feature is the Mystery Stack respin that activates pretty often and can last for quite some time - and produce nice wins. It is also very hard to criticize a game with a maximum win of $490,000.

But the best part of Voodoo Hex is still the overall design. The game looks so finished and cool and it is clear that a lot of people have spent a lot of time creating it. It is the perfect game for cold and dark autumn nights.
