Vikings Go Berzerk Reloaded

Vikings Go Berzerk Reloaded

The Viking saga continues! Yggdrasil has finally published a new addition to their widely popular "Vikings Go" -series when Vikings Go Berzerk Reloaded takes the stage. We of course had to take a closed look of the game and below you will find our full review.

In just eight short years, Yggdrasil has proven to be a real force within the casino gaming software development community. It's not difficult to identify the reasons for the company's success. It boils down to determination, innovation, and the ability to churn out a lot of quality video slots. If there is one series of video slots that helped Yggdrasil to become successful, it would have to be the "Vikings Go" series. That series started in 2015 with the release of Vikings Go Wild, followed by Vikings Go Berzerk and Vikings Go to Hell.

Continuing with that tradition, Yggdrasil released an updated Vikings Go Berzerk Reloaded on September 30, 2021. While the game incorporates a lot of things from the original, there have been several additions and one major subtraction that will help give this version its own identity.

Vikings Go Berzerk Reloaded: How It Works

With Vikings Go Berzerk Reloaded, the game format stays the same as the original offering. Yggdrasil probably feels there's no need to fix something that's not broken.

The game format features 5 reels and 4 rows, which create 25 pay lines that are set in stone. The game's betting limits range from .25 on the low end and 50.00 on the high end. Under the right circumstances, the highest maximum payout will be 25,000x the wagered amount. By comparison, that stacks up well with other top online video slot games. It's worth noting that the game's background has been turned into an icy environment, which is explained in the game's introduction.

The lower paying symbols are represented by coins (black, gold, silver, and bronze). The higher paying standard symbols are represented by four Vikings, one with a mohawk, one with blue war paint, one with a red beard, and a shaman. The "Wild" serves as the game's wild symbol. It will be used to substitute for any other symbol with the exception of the scatter symbol. The evil siren serves as the scatter symbol.

Note: The scatter symbol is responsible for triggering access to special features. More on that in the next section.

Vikings Go Berzerk Reloaded RTP%

The best way slot players can gauge the risks involved with any online casino game is to research the game's RTP%. This is the percentage of every dollar a player wagers that they can expect to receive back as winnings over a long period of play. As a point of reference, a 95% RTP% indicates the player can expect theoretically to win back 95% of their wagers. The difference is the casino's edge.

Vikings Go Berzerk Reloaded has a RTP% of 96%. That is on par with the original version. The game also has a volatility rating of medium-high, which means the game is a little more difficult than the original. A hit frequency of 24% is fairly standard among video slots with a 96% RTP%.

Special Features

Where this game really creates a lot of appeal is by providing slot players with access to some really nice and lucrative special bonus features. This access is created by landing 3, 4, or 5 scatters on the same base spin. When that happens, the players is reward with the following:

  • 3 scatters = 7 free spins
  • 4 scatters = 8 free spins + 1 Berzerk Viking
  • 5 scatters = 9 free spins + 2 Berzerk Vikings

During free spins, the focus falls on Vikings. Any time a Viking appears on the reels, they will get an opportunity to battle the evil siren. If they win the battle, the Viking symbol transforms into a sticky wild symbol for the remainder of the free spins round.

If by chance a Viking is in berzerk mode, they will automatically win their battle. Also, wild symbols can randomly create upgraded multiples of x2, x4, or x8, which will also remain in effect for the remainder of the free spins round. Note: There is a Ragnarok Spin feature that can be triggered randomly at any time. When this happens, all 4 Vikings immediately go to Berzerk mode. That means they will win all of their fights for that one spin, increasing the chance for sticky wilds.

If the treasure chest lands anywhere on the last reel, it triggers a treasure chest bonus feature. When this happens, the chest will open to expose one of the following rewards:

  • 1-3 additional free spins
  • 1-2 additional sticky wilds
  • 1 free spin and an extra Berzerk Viking
  • double wild multipliers for the one spin (8 max)

As indicated above, one thing from the original offering has been subtracted. That would be the Rage meter collection function. It's a popular function that will be missed.

Setting the subtraction aside, fans of the original will certainly enjoy Vikings Go Berzerk Reload. Everything should be familiar while the additions certainly add value and intrigue to the game.

In the future, it's a good bet that Yggdrasil will be adding more games to the Vikings Go series, and why not? The series has proven to be very popular - and who does not love vikings? As far as this entry is concerned, it's worthy of consideration by slot players throughout the online video slot playing community.
